MOBILE MECHANICS
About

Omar Achtar.
Mobile Mechanic, Feltham.

Achtar Mobile Mechanics is a one-van outfit working out of Feltham. No reception, no waiting room, no upselling script — just a qualified mechanic, a fully equipped van, and your driveway.

Gloved hands fitting a wheel back onto a car

“If we cannot show you why something needed replacing, it did not need replacing.”

It also means your car never leaves your sight. You are not dropping it off at eight in the morning, arranging a lift to work, then waiting for a phone call that turns a £90 job into a £400 one. We work in front of you, we show you the worn part in your hand, and you decide.

What we will not do is pretend to be something we are not. There are jobs that need a four-post ramp and there are jobs that need a specialist. When yours is one of them we will tell you on the phone, before you have paid us anything, and point you somewhere honest.

A full service is £139 here. The London average sits between £150 and £300 — and the difference is a building we do not rent.

How we work

Four rules we do not bend.

01

We show you the old part

Every time. Worn pads, split boots, a cracked coil — you get to hold it before it goes in the bin. If we cannot show you why something needed replacing, it did not need replacing.

02

We quote before we start

A fixed number in writing, with the parts listed. If we open something up and the job turns out to be bigger, we stop and call you. Nothing is ever added to an invoice you have not seen.

03

We tell you when it can wait

Pads at 4mm do not need doing today. We will tell you that, put it on the report with a rough date, and let you plan for it instead of pressuring you into it.

04

We turn up when we said

And if something genuinely runs over, you get a phone call well before your slot, not an hour after it. Your time is worth the same as ours.

The process

What booking us actually looks like.

  1. STEP 01

Tell us what it is doing

Reg, postcode, and what the car is doing wrong. Thirty seconds on the form, or send a voice note on WhatsApp — whichever is easier.

  2. STEP 02

    Get a fixed price back

Usually inside the hour during working hours. A real number, not a range, with the parts we would use written down.

  3. STEP 03

    We come to you

Home, work, the station car park — anywhere with room to work safely. You carry on with your day.

  4. STEP 04

    Pay after, not before

Card, bank transfer or cash once the job is done and you are happy. Invoice and warranty emailed straight away.

Questions

Everything people ask, answered properly.

If yours is not here, ask it. We would rather answer ten questions than have you book something you did not need.

How far do you travel?

Five miles from Feltham, which covers Hounslow, Twickenham, Ashford, Staines, Hampton, Hayes, Heathrow and everywhere in between. There is no call-out fee anywhere inside that. Just outside it? Ask anyway — if the diary allows, we will usually still come.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No. Mobile mechanics across outer London typically charge between £45 and £85 simply to arrive. Inside our five-mile patch we charge nothing — you pay for the work, not the journey.

What do you need from me on the day?

A safe, legal place to park with about a metre of space either side, and the keys. A driveway, a work car park or a quiet residential street all work fine. We bring everything else, including power.

Can you work in the rain?

Yes. We carry covers and work under them. Genuinely severe weather is the only thing that moves a booking, and we will call you well before we are due rather than leave you waiting.

Will a mobile service affect my manufacturer warranty?

No. Block Exemption Regulation means any qualified mechanic can service your car to the manufacturer schedule using matching-quality parts without voiding the warranty. We stamp your book and give you a full parts invoice for your records.

Is there anything you cannot do at the roadside?

Yes, and we will say so up front rather than waste your money. Gearbox rebuilds, major internal engine work, wheel alignment and anything needing a four-post ramp all belong in a workshop. We will tell you and point you somewhere honest.

Do you supply the parts, or can I?

Either. Parts we supply carry the full 12-month parts-and-labour warranty. If you supply your own we will happily fit them, but the warranty then covers our labour only.

What happens if you find something else wrong?

We stop and call you. Nothing extra gets done, and nothing extra gets charged, until you have agreed a price for it.

How do I pay?

Card, bank transfer or cash, after the work is finished. Nothing up front on standard jobs. On expensive parts orders we may ask for the part cost in advance, and we will always say so in the quote.

Do you work on electric and hybrid cars?

For servicing, brakes, suspension, tyres, 12V systems and diagnostics, yes. We do not carry out high-voltage battery or drive-unit work — that belongs with a specialist, and we will tell you so.
